General Vehicle Requirements

Vehicle Capacity

• Can fit a minimum 4 passengers to a maximum of 6 passengers with working seatbelts for each seat.

Vehicle Age

• Vehicle models must be 7 years old or newer to drive using Hopp in Toronto, Mississauga, and Oakville.
• Vehicle models must be 10 years old or newer to drive using Hopp in the Markham, Milton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Pickering, Ajax, Burlington, and Halton Hills.

Vehicle Condition

• Vehicle must have 4 doors which operate independently.
• Vehicle must be in good condition (must not be salvaged or rebuilt) with no commercial branding.
• Have a passed vehicle safety inspection from a licenced mechanic within the last year.
  • In order for Hopp you apply for PTC licence, submit your safety inspection within 36 days of the inspection. Find more information about PTC licences here.

Seasonal Tires (For PTC Licenced and Mississauga Drivers Only)

• Snow/winter tires or all-weather/season tires are required from December 1st to April 30th of the following year.

Insurance and Registration

• Vehicles must be insured with the name of the driver on the Certificate of Insurance.
• Vehicle registration does not require the name of the driver on the document.

Standard cars, everyday rides. All general vehicle requirements apply.

Comfort

Spacious cars, comfortable rides. All general requirements apply, as well as the following:

• Vehicles have additional leg room and storage space

XL

Big Cars, Big Groups. All general vehicle requirements apply, as well as the following:

• Vehicles have additional leg room and storage space
• Capacity: Can fit 6 passengers with working seatbelts for each seat.
