Navigating your earnings documents

Learn the difference between your different earnings documents.

Different reports, different totals? Don't worry, this is expected. The variation usually comes down to whether a report tracks when you did the work or when the money hit your bank.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what you’ll see in the Driver Portal and your inbox.

The Annual Digital Platform Information Report (CRA reporting)

Each January, if you earned income through the platform during the year, Hopp will send you an email reflecting the total earnings, fees and taxes withheld reported to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Under Canada’s digital platform reporting rules, platform operators, such as Hopp, must collect, verify, and report seller information to the CRA annually. This report reflects amounts paid or credited to you during the calendar year. It does not replace your GST/HST or income tax reporting obligations.

  • Purpose: Annual platform reporting to CRA.
  • What It Shows: Amounts paid or credited to you during the calendar year, along with other reportable information.
  • The Timeline: Money deposited into your account between January 1 and December 31.
  • The Logic: This is a cash-based summary. If you were paid on January 2 for work done in late December, that money counts toward the new year’s report.

Monthly & Annual Summaries (in the Driver Portal)

These summaries give you the full picture of your activity on the road via the Hopp platform.

  • Purpose: Tax and record-keeping support
  • What It Shows: Total driving activity, including trip earnings, Hopp fees, and GST/HST (both collected and paid) based on activity shown in the portal.
  • The Timeline: Based on when trips were completed.
  • The Logic: This is an activity-based summary. It reflects the work you did within the calendar year, regardless of when the payout landed.

Why the numbers are different

It’s all about timing and purpose, not an error.

The numbers may differ because the documents serve different purposes and may use different timing. One is designed for annual platform reporting to CRA; the other is designed to show your driving activity for tax and record-keeping support.

For example: If you completed trips in late December but the payout arrived in early January, those earnings will appear on your December Monthly Summary (the work) but on next year's Annual Digital Platform Information Report email (the payment).

Which one should you use?

Filing taxes (e.g. income, GST/HST): Use your Monthly or Annual Summary from the Driver Portal

Verifying Bank deposits: Use your Annual Digital Platform Information Report in your email

Important note

These reports are for summary purposes only. They do not replace your obligation to keep your own records and meet your own income tax and GST/HST filing obligations. Hopp provides this data for your information; it isn't formal tax advice or proof of employment.
